You'll never go wrong.

When planning an outfit, I start with one focus piece, as usual. However, instead of starting with a great skirt, or statement top, I organized this one around these magnificent eighty-eight cent socks from Goodwill. I can rarely find pieces at Goodwill that I can't live without, but these socks had me at hola. The tan button-up shirt, acid washed jeans (which I cut into shorts on a whim), and the multi-chained red necklace are my mother's. SURPRISE. The platform sling backs ($7) are an awesome find from a secondhand store called Plato's Closet. They make me feel a bit too tall, which has got to be one of the greatest feelings ever. Height, when normally is in short abundance, is such a confidence boost. I'm especially excited about the accessories of this look because the color of the belt and the necklace are such great matches to the socks, yet they're subtle enough to not be Christmas red  and green.

The only thing left to do: Not forget I own these socks...

Don't get on my case.

This gorgeous and girly vintage hat was a gift from the boyfriend that came in the mail a few days ago. I couldn't wait to wear it and as soon as I had the chance, I did. The hat made its debut this weekend at a farmer's market, where it was greeted with many stares, as well as a few delightful compliments from strangers. The dusty pink color of the bow makes it somewhat difficult to match, so thus far I've stuck with pairing it with black and white.
The shirt dress is from my mother's closet, along with the lacey sports bra I have underneath. The black and pink polka dotted heels are from Payless Shoes. They were my first ever pair of high heels, and I still like to squeeze into them when an outfit needs a feminine touch. The pink in the hat and in the polka dots in the heels (which are hard to see) match perfectly, so it only made sense.

Sullen Merman

I promise that I am not as sad and pathetic as I seem to convey in these pictures. I have an affinity for looking down in photos, so I decided to keep my head up and this depressed look seems to be the only expression my face could create.
The simple, black lace bandeau is from Ragstock, the blue-black sparkly maxi skirt (which may not actually be meant to wear high-waisted, but since I'm so short I am forced to wear that way) is from the clearance rack at Forever 21. I got my Dr. Marten boots at a second hand store called Plato's Closet for $16. The hat is borrowed from the boyfriend and the black zipper bracelet is from Claire's, as well as the zipper necklace. The fork bracelet was made by the boyfriend.
I really like this outfit and would probably wear it anywhere - except for a restaurant, however weird this may be, I just feel uncomfortable showing that much skin at any sort of eatery.

So, my best friend just moved in.

This means, together, we will either be way more creatively productive than normal.
Or... we'll do the opposite and just sit around and chat for hours on end-- also known as being unproductive.
Either way, I'm glad I get her before she goes to school again.
